Saucony Progrid Mirage

!±8± Saucony Progrid Mirage

The Saucony Progrid Mirage is highly recommended for athletes searching for a minimalistic, lightweight shoe with support. It is neatly balanced as well cushioned and supportive and a lightweight, minimalistic shoe. Many other models attempted it, such as Adidas Adizero Tempo, Asics DS trainer, as well as the defunct Nike Elite, without the added transition and ride of a true racing shoe. This and all the other mentioned elements are what the Mirage consists off.

It was tested over a 200 mile course which included snow, trails, gravel and roads. It appeals widely to runners with a slight pronation and uses a low drop of four mm heel to toe and combine it with Progrid Lite cushioning. The Saucony is a performance oriented trainer and it fits beautifully throughout the midfoot and heel sections. Feet will function naturally with the ample space in the toe box and it is suggested not to buy these shoes in one size smaller because of the toe area, unless you like a very snug fit.

A flexible plastic of high density offers moderate support which runs in the back of the shoe's midsole. The flexibility of the support allows for great trail running and areas of uneven footing with no risk of twisting ankles. Runners not used to the Mirage may feel tightness in their calves after the first use as it will make the transition of running more on mid foot or toes. It is great for runners to train in such a low drop trainer as the change of going into racing flats will not affect their calves at all.

The solid outsole of the Mirage is relatively unseen in running shoes and it is designed to provide great traction and will not pick up mud and stones like most of its counterparts. The carbon rubber it is made of is very durable and will surely last many miles. Saucony utilizes a traditional upper on the shoe using mesh, which proves to keep out debris and dust quite effectively. It is a light duel density mesh to allow for the breathing of feet but will still keep feet warm. It also features moisture wicking heel guard for dry feet over a long run and a sock liner.

Compared to the Kinvara, which is a very traditional running shoe, the Saucony Progrid Mirage has all its responsiveness as well as extra protection and support, great cushioning which is responsive yet very firm.
